Interests & Experience
Tell us about yourself (i.e. background, education, career experience, interests).

I have lived in Manteca nearly my entire life. I am very involved in the community, particularly as the co-founder of Manteca Youth Focus, a local non-profit youth scholarship organization which has donated over $175K in educational scholarships and provided leadership training and volunteer service opportunities for our youth. I work as a Sr. Administrative Assistant at the Port of Stockton where I support executive leadership and coordinate multi-department projects and oversee the reception and mail services staff. I am passionate about civic engagement, sustainable growth and preserving Manteca's character while supporting thoughtful development.

List any experiences you have serving on other Boards & Commissions in the City of Manteca or elsewhere.

I currently serve as co-founder and past president of Manteca Youth Focus, a nonprofit organization that has operated for over 30 years. In this role, I regularly collaborate with city officials, local businesses, and service organizations. I have also served on planning committees and advisory groups for community events such as the California Garlic Festival, San Joaquin Asparagus Festival, American Heart Association, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and various local fundraisers. While I have not previously served on a City of Manteca Board or Commission, my experience leading nonprofit governance, managing budgets, and navigating stakeholder input has prepared me to contribute effectively in this capacity.

How did you hear about the Planning Commission vacancy? via Facebook
What do you believe the role of the City's Planning Commission to be? I believe the Planning Commission plays a vital role in shaping the future of our city by reviewing and making recommendations on land use, development projects, and zoning matters in alignment with Manteca’s General Plan and community priorities. The Commission serves as a bridge between the public, City Council, and staff to balance growth and economic development with the preservation of quality of life, environmental stewardship, and the city’s character. Its work ensures that decisions are made transparently, with both short-term needs and long-term impacts in mind. 3/3
What is your vision of Manteca as it relates to City growth? My vision for Manteca is a community that grows with purpose. Where new development is supported by strong infrastructure, well-resourced public safety, and careful planning that protects the integrity of our existing neighborhoods. I want to see revitalization in our downtown that celebrates our history, attracts local businesses, and creates inviting spaces for residents and visitors to gather. As we grow, I believe we can balance welcoming new opportunities with preserving the sense of connection and pride that makes Manteca feel like home.

What do you think is the single, most important skill a Planning Commissioner should have? I believe the most important skill a Planning Commissioner can have is the ability to truly listen with an open mind. For me, that means creating space for every voice, whether it’s a longtime resident, a new neighbor, a business owner, or city staff, and making sure those perspectives are understood and respected. I value listening not just to respond, but to learn. That skill builds trust, leads to better decisions, and ensures our city grows in a way that reflects the needs and values of the whole community.

What is your background and experience as it pertains to General Plans? While I have not served directly on a city commission, my work at the Port of Stockton and leadership with Manteca Youth Focus have given me strong experience in strategic planning, policy review, and balancing diverse stakeholder priorities. I understand the General Plan as the city’s blueprint for growth and development, and I bring the ability to evaluate decisions through both a long-term vision and a community-centered lens.
