RESOLUTION R20XX-XX
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANTECA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE OVERHIRE OF THREE POLICE OFFICER POSITIONS AND APPROVING A RELATED BUDGET APPROPRIATION WHEREAS, The Manteca Police Department is experiencing staffing shortages due to multiple sworn officers being on extended worker’s compensation leave with no foreseeable return-to-work dates, impacting patrol coverage and public safety operations; and WHEREAS, authorizing the temporary overhire of three Police Officer positions will allow the Police Department to maintain minimum staffing levels, reduce reliance on mandatory overtime, and ensure continuity of public safety services; and WHEREAS, the overhire will result in additional personnel costs requiring a budget appropriation to fund salary and benefit expenses; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered all information related to this matter, as presented at the public meetings of the City Council identified herein, including any supporting reports by City Staff, and any information provided during public meetings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Manteca, as follows:
The City Council hereby finds that the facts set forth in the recitals to this Resolution are true and correct, and establish the factual basis for the City Council’s adoption of this Resolution.
The City Council hereby authorizes the Manteca Police Department to overhire three Police Officer positions on a temporary basis to address staffing shortages resulting from extended worker’s compensation absences.
The City Council hereby approves a budget appropriation of $242,000 in the General Fund (Fund 100).
2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
