Government Finance Professionals Week
March 23-27, 2026
Whereas, the City of Manteca Finance Department serves the community by ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public funds across all City operations; and Whereas, the Finance Department manages the City’s complex operating and capital budgets, oversees enterprise funds and utility rate processes, ensures compliance with state and federal laws, and maintains accurate financial reporting in accordance with governmental accounting standards to support long-term fiscal sustainability; and Whereas, the City of Manteca operates within California’s unique financial framework, including Proposition 13, Proposition 218, the Gann Appropriations Limit, CalPERS pension obligations, and changing economic conditions, which requires expert analysis, strategic planning, and sound financial leadership; and Whereas the professionals of the City of Manteca Finance Department work diligently, often behind the scenes, to provide timely and accurate financial information that enables informed policy decisions and ensures the continued delivery of essential public services and recognizing Government Finance Professionals Week during the last week of March highlights their dedication, integrity, and professionalism.
Now, Therefore, I, Gary Singh, Mayor of the City of Manteca, on behalf of City Council, do recognize the last week of March as Government Finance Professionals Week in the City of Manteca; and urge all citizens to extend their appreciation to the dedicated professionals of the City of Manteca Finance Department for their hard work, dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence, integrity, transparency, and responsible fiscal stewardship in service to the public.
