RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANTECA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN ADDITIONAL CONTINGENCY OF $250,000 (TOTAL PROJECT CONTINGENCY OF $440,900) FOR THE WQCF BREAKROOM AND OPERATOR CONTROL ROOM REMODEL PROJECT (CIP 24047) TO COVER COMMUNICATION, NETWORK, AUDIO/VISUAL AND ANY ADDITIONAL UNFORESEEN PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO TAKE ALL APPROPRIATE ACTIONS NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT THE PURPOSE AND INTENT OF THE RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, On October 21, 2025, the City award construction contract C2025-191 to Diede Construction, Inc. for $1,909,000 with a ten percent (10%) contingency of $190,900; and WHEREAS, the current amount of approved change orders totals $169,359.25, which is 8.8% of the 10% contingency, and included the removal and disposal of asbestos, modifications to the roof, windows and interior walls as well as ADA path of travel improvements; and WHEREAS, Communication, network and audio/visual improvements were to be designed and constructed under a separate contact, however these improvements are being added to the existing construction contact as it improves project efficiency and delivery time; and WHEREAS, Staff recommends City Council approve an additional contingency of $250,000 (total contingency of $440,900) for the for the WQCF Breakroom and Operator Control Room Remodel Project (CIP 24047) to cover the communication, network and audio/visual improvements as well as any additional unforeseen project improvements. Staff also recommends authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute any subsequent change orders, provided they do not exceed the limit of the project contingency, and to take all appropriate actions necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of the resolution; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Manteca, as follows:
The City Council hereby finds that the facts set forth in the recitals to this Resolution are true and correct, and establish the factual basis for the City Council’s adoption of this Resolution.
The City Council hereby approves an additional contingency of $250,000 (total project contingency of $440,900) for the WQCF Breakroom and Operator Control Room Remodel Project (CIP 24047).
The City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager or designee to complete and execute all associated documents, and take all associated documents, and take all appropriate actions necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of the Resolution including approving amendments and change orders within the project budget contingency.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
