Proclamation
World Town Planning Day
November 8, 2026
Whereas, World Town Planning Day, observed annually on November 8, celebrates the contributions of planning to communities around the world, with the 2026 theme, “Great Communities are Built on Planning: Together We Deliver, Together We Thrive, Together We Sustain”; and Whereas, planning is most powerful when undertaken together, bringing planners, residents, and community partners together to create places that are well-designed, equitable, resilient, and supportive of the well-being of all; and Whereas, communities face interconnected social, environmental, and economic challenges, and planners play a critical role in building partnerships and guiding inclusive processes that help communities respond to change and achieve positive outcomes; and Whereas, collaboration among planners, professionals working in the built and natural environments, and community members brings together diverse knowledge, experience, and shared aspirations to address inequities and improve quality of life; and Whereas, meaningful public participation and shared responsibility help turn community visions into tangible results, supporting housing opportunities, accessible services, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development for present and future generations.
Now, Therefore, I, Gary Singh, Mayor of the City of Manteca, on behalf of the City Council, do recognize November 8th, 2026, as World Town Planning Day, with the theme “Great Communities are Built on Planning: Together We Deliver, Together We Thrive, Together We Sustain,” and urge all citizens to learn more about the planning profession and participate in the planning process to help shape a vibrant, equitable, and resilient Manteca.
