AGENDA ITEM
TITLE: ADOPT ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARICOPA AMENDING THE MARICOPA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING CHAPTER 13.12, SECTION 3.12.040 ESTABLISHING NEW SEWER SERVICE PROPOSED BY: Eric G. Ziegler
MEETING DATE: August 13, 2024

RECOMMENDATION
Motion to adopt ordinance entitled An Ordinance Of The City Of Maricopa Amending The Maricopa Municipal Code By Amending Chapter 13.12, Section 13.12.040 Establishing New Sewer Service

BACKGROUND
At the regularly scheduled Council meeting of Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Council conducted a Proposition 218 Public Hearing to receive protests of proposed sewer rates that become effective July 1, 2024. Following the close of the public hearing, the City Clerk reported that no protests had been received by mail or at the hearing itself from those subject to the sewer service fee.

Following the City Clerk's report of protests received, Council waived the reading and subsequently introduced an ordinance entitled An Ordinance of the City of Maricopa Amending the Maricopa Municipal Code by Amending Chapter

13.12, Section 13.12.040 Establishing New Sewer Service Rates.

The new sewer rates become effective starting in the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2024 Under California law, an ordinance may be introduced at any regularly scheduled meeting of the City council, in this case at the regularly scheduled meeting of Tuesday, July 23, 2024; Council may then adopt the ordinance at any regularly scheduled meeting that occurs at least five days after introduction of the said ordinance. Thus, it is appropriate at this time for Council to consider a motion to adopt an ordinance entitled An Ordinance of the City of Maricopa Amending the Maricopa Municipal Code by Amending Chapter 13.12, Section 13.12.040 Establishing New Sewer Service Rates.
