Please progress these discussions and reach a resolution. • Yung Soo Oh here to speak and support the Asian American Garden. Many people support this unique garden. Spoke about the past meetings on this subject, progress was made but it’s still far away from completion. Hopes city will make right decision for the people. This garden will bring many visitors from outside.
• Vali Moreno came to speak about the Children’s Garden and Locke Paddon Park. Families look forward to coming here to explore, visit the library especially during Dad’s Read day.

Creating a children’s garden is a great pathway for families to get another space in this park.

Please consider the Children’s Garden that Marian supports. • Andy Nguyen asked that the Regional Parks District give Marina full authority to move forward with the city projects on Lot 43, including the food forest, children’s garden and the Asian American garden. public input and environmental review. This project will belong to all communities. Asian American garden will be the first in Monterey County. Please negotiate in way that protects Marina.
• Sukyung Pak spoke on behalf of her son who could not attend . Son went to Asian Garden is San Fransico and enjoyed its peaceful atmosphere and it attracts visitors from around the world. Thrilled to learn of the proposed Asian Garden at Locke Paddon Park and shared the news with friend and his school. Spoke about other cities and what they’re known. This Asian American garden can become Marina’s landmark attracting visitors boasting our local economics.
• Jeff Markham MPRPD Board Director, thanked those who attended our board meetings.

Reminded everyone what the purpose of the park really is, it was envisioned back in 1986 -87 by the Coastal Conservancy, City of Marina and the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District to build around what was a vernal pond. We were successful many years acquiring the parcels either through grants or purchase. Spoke about how slow this process has been and the joint meeting 6 months ago. We had a lot of foundational work to do to understand the history of the park that we didn’t fully understand. New general manager is now up to speed on what’s going on. We are hopeful and cooperative that an arrangement can be made again. Hopes to bring forth a lease agreement. Asked about the possibility of having another joint meeting so we can discuss this with the public.
• Mark Melendez enjoys Locke Paddon Park. Wondering why this has not moved forward.

C4SM will do whatever it takes to make sure to make sure we make progress. It was voted on and approved. C4SM is available to help in any way, just ask. Commented on the MLK statue being a transformational moment. Let’s move this forward. • Amelia Forstahl, student working on her Eagle Scout project which is the Food Forest.

Believe Food Forest will be beneficial to the community. It provides food security and education on how to grow food. Looking for land to do projects on and would like to do it on city land next to the library. Would like to get city approval for the project. • Cleave Waters here to express support for the garden. This would be a great addition.

• Eileen Hu wanted to thank public works for coming out on a Sunday to Crescent Ave to take care of a tree limb that was dangerously hanging over the sidewalk. Raised concerns about bicyclists riding on the sidewalk along Crescent Ave versus using the bike lane. Dangerous to the pedestrians walking along the sidewalk, also a lot of seniors live in this area. • Denise Turley noted there was a misunderstanding that we did not state in our comments last week that we were unable to meet with city council members or the mayor , we state we are unable to meet with staff although we occasionally meet with Greystar. Received an email from MCWD say that they have a program for anyone affected by the shut -down and you need to contact them on an individual basis. You can go to their website. Suggested people contact their utility company to see if they have an existing program in place. • Joanne Sherrill liked the display of the boards that are going up around CSUMB but did not see in regard to the diversity and inclusion is any of that integration of diversity for the African American soldiers making this area a true diverse area. Not sure that can be symbolized.
• Elizabeth Gerrity commented on MST closure notices. Noted that people use the Rec Trail to commute to and from work, the Dunes Shopping Center and CSUMB and surprised closures on those trails will result in 2 miles of extra cycling. Shorts notices from MST are disrespectful and shortsighted. Would like all parties involved to be more responsible and respectful in terms or announcements and closures.
