Outline of request for
"Dragons of Sam Fow" historical children's book
Outline of project: I am not affiliated with a nonprofit but this project is a not for profit historical children's book about the history of the Chinese who settled in our area during the gold rush. While searching for such a book to share during our annual Bok Kai Festival, I could not find any book telling the story of the dragons and history of the Bok Kai temple. So I have spent 3 years researching and interviewing local Chinese historians and descendants to write this book. The story is completed.
Marketing plan: This book will be available for sale at our local businesses, online through Amazon and by the members of the friends of Bok Kai and the Chinese community. I am donating all protits to the Chinese School for events and children's programs. The book will include points from the 4th grade state standards. This allows all 4th grade teachers to suggest it for their students and their families. It will also bring in tourism interest in the Bok Kai Festival and our local history.
I am requesting your financial support to hire an illustrator for the book. The story is completed. Next step is to find that special artists) or local students to draw the illustrations.
My goal is to have the book completed by the year 2024, which is the Chinese year of the dragon, and have special events, tours and storytelling to focus on the history of our China Town and the "Dragons of Sam Fow".
I have been storytelling and sharing our history for more than 30 years and with your financial support this book would be my gift to the City of Marysville and her history.
Thank you for your consideration,
Sue Cejner-Moyers
