RESOLUTION NO. 2022-XX
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN OPPOSITION OF ASSEMBLY BILL 2011 (AB 2011) At a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Marysville, State of California held on the 7th of June, 2022.
WHEREAS, the City of Marysville opposes Assembly Bill 2011 along with many members of the League of California Cities; and
WHEREAS, Cities lay the essential groundwork for housing production through planning and zoning new projects in their communities based on extensive public input and engagement, state housing laws, and the needs of the building industry. Importantly, cities are currently updating housing plans to identify sites for more than two million additional housing units; and WHEREAS, Eliminating opportunities for public review of housing developments goes against the principles of transparency and public engagement. Public hearings allow members of the community to inform their representatives of their support or concerns. “Streamlining” as noted within the context of AB 2011 is a shortcut around public input.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City of Marysville opposes the Assembly Bill 2011 brought forth to the Assembly, by Assembly Members Wicks, Bloom, Grayson, Quirk-Silva and Villapudua.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of Marysville, County of Yuba, State of California, on the 7th day of June, 2022, by the following vote:
