Organization Purpose/Mission - Mission Statement
Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture exists to expand artistic awareness of and engagement in the arts and culture and to encourage our local communities to reach their full potential by developing arts programs that serve their needs, and to provide access to the arts and cultural activities in rural and under-served areas throughout Yuba and Sutter counties. We play an essential role in our communities to ensure that the highest quality and widest variety of arts and cultural activities and presentations are available. We do this because our community needs it, and because we are looked to for leadership, expertise, and inspiration. Our vision is for our region to experience art and culture every day and to recognize their value in the everyday.
Type of Sponsorship Requested: • Funding - Amount requested $1,500 Type of Organization: Non-Profit local arts agencies serving the residents including students in Marysville. Our headquarters are at 624 E Street Marysville, CA 95901 Event or Program details:
Program Title - Phase 1 Marysville Portion of the Yuba County Three Rivers History Trail Sign Project
Overview
• Our Cities and County are woefully lacking in terms of providing readily accessible information about our colorful history to residents and visitors other than during special events. The project team that will identify up to 10 historic sites (buildings, structures, places) in Marysville for phase 1 of the project.
• Each location will be marked with a sign with a brief description and graphics to support the location. Each sign will also include a location number and a logo (to be created) to show a connection from place to place.
• The signs could each be individual designs based on artist submissions to capture the spirit of the location. However, colors and some overall design parameters will be consistent for each location in addition to the logo to show a connection from place to place.
• Each sign will also have a QR code which, when accessed by the camera feature on a smart phone (no need for a special QR code app) will display a video about the location.
The short videos can be actors portraying a historic figure or information could be provided by a local historian and all will be 4t grade curriculum aligned.
Date and time of Event or Program start date: The final design phase of the sign template will begin in May. We will establish a standard general look of the signs and create several mounting bracket options to accommodate different installations. We will work with the City for all required approvals. First sign install will occur in July 2022 at the Mary Aaron Museum.
The project will be ongoing for the next three years. Once the Marysville sites are outfitted with the signs and QR codes, we will move onto locations throughout Yuba County.
Expected number of participants will attend your event or participate in your program:
Viewers of the signs will be countless. However, program participants, i.e. viewers looking at the signs will be traced based on the number of times the QR codes are accessed. The data is de-identified, but we can track the number of times the codes are viewed. It is expected that the sign trail will attract both locals as well as visitors anxious to access readily available information about the history of Marysville and its colorful past.
Will your event be open to the public? The history sign trail will be open and accessible 24/7.
Will there be any financial charge to those attending? Never. If so, how much? What is the main purpose of your event or program?
The main purpose of the Phase 1 Marysville segment of the Yuba County Three Rivers History Trail Sign Project is to make the history of the community accessible to residents and visitors 24/7. The long-term plan is to build out the sign network beginning in Marysville and then throughout Yuba County and then follow up with publication/trail guide and eventually a Marysville/Yuba County smart phone app.
Please explain how your event meets one or more of the sponsorship criteria below:
• Boosts the local Marysville economy: Cultural tourism is a real thing. Visitors will visit and access the history at their convenience. When tours are conducted during First Saturday History events, the signs will act as a supplement to the docent led tours. When tours are not occurring, the signs will act as "docents" because of the QR codes with actors presenting local history. It is assumed that visitors to Marysville will shop, eat, and otherwise contribute to the economy by patronizing local businesses.
• Provides an opportunity to help build community, foster a sense of pride within our community, and engage our community: Celebrating local history instills a sense of pride in all residents and community leaders. Telling our stories in a professional manner with these history signs (think the beautifully designed signs when visiting a State or National Park) will enhance the experience for visitors.
• Contributes positively to the recognition and image of the City of Marysville: Presenting a unified image for the history of very historic Marysville will enhance the overall image of the City by demonstrating collaboration amongst all of the various history oriented organizations. Collaborators on the project include the Mary Aaron Museum, which is providing $1,500 in matching funds, the Yuba County Historic Resources Commission of which David Read is a member, along with members of the Chinese community and the Japanese American Citizens League.
Other Considerations:
• I understand that if the City agrees to sponsor the event (program), I will acknowledge the sponsorship on all printed information or advertising related to the event using a message approved by the City and provide any written marketing material to the City prior to distribution of event materials. • I understand that if the City agrees to sponsor the event, appropriate ADA accessibility will be provided. • I understand that sponsorship is optional; and the City can deny this sponsorship application.

Program Marketing Plan
The initial, pre-marketing phase of the program will involve the design of the sign template.
Preliminary work has already begun but the services of a professional graphic designer will be needed to finalize the look of the signs. The template design will be completed and the first signs with images, text and an actor talking about the site via the QR code will be installed.
Once a few signs have been installed and with the support of our partners in the project, we will begin marketing the "History of Marysville" via the sign project to a broader constituency working with the Yuba Sutter Lodging Association, Visit Yuba Sutter and the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce. Links will be provided for placement on the City of Marysville and Yuba County websites relating to the existence of the sign trail. Social media links will be shared with all local arts and culture and history-engaged organizations. Radio interviews and traditional print media will also be utilized to promote the signs.
