Subject: Updating the Conflict of Interest Policy
Recommendation:
Pass a Motion to 1) adopt Resolution 2022-XX and 2) approve the amendments to the City’s Conflict of Interest Policy to adhere to current standards set forth by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) and gain compliance with the FPPC Standards.
Rationale for Recommendation:
The FPPC recommends that an Agency’s Conflict of Interest Policy be no older than five (5) years, if it is than an update must occur. If there have been any amendments to the positions listed in the existing policy (reclassifications, separation of departments, adding positions, etc.) there must be a policy update.
Background:
The City’s current Conflict of Interest Policy was adopted and put into place on September 15, 2020. At that time there were only ten (10) positions reporting to the FPPC; and the Assistant Community Development and Services Director position has been added to the positions; resulting in another need for an update.
