To: Mayor and City Council
From: Jennifer Styczynski, Finance Director
Jim Schaad, City Manager
Subject: Community Sponsorship Program Application Review Recommendation:
Pass a Motion to discuss the three applications received and determine awarded amount to each approved entity per the approved Community Sponsorship Policy.
Background:
At the October 20, 2020 Council Meeting, Council adopted the Community Sponsorship Policy for NonGovernmental Organizations (NGO’s). As part of the program adoption, the applications will be submitted to the City Council for review and discussion as a part of the annual budget process.
Discussion & Analysis:
The City is in receipt of three applications, asking for the maximum amount allowable ($1,500 per qualified application). There is a maximum of $5,000 budgeted to be awarded for Fiscal Year 2022-2023.
It is being presented to the Council to determine how much the three applicants may receive.
Applications have an annual due date of March 31 to be considered for award and then if awarded, the funding would be disbursed after the turn of the next fiscal year (July 1) within a reasonable amount of time after the budget for that fiscal year is adopted by City Council.
Alignment with City Council Goal(s):
This Agenda Item helps support Goal #2: Expand Economic Development; as this program puts dollars in direct contact with local businesses through an application process.
Fiscal Analysis:
For the Fiscal year 2022-2023, $5,000 is proposed to be approved in the adopted budget for Community Sponsorships.
