Item #04
Date: October 4, 2022
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Christian Sachs, Chief of Police
Jim Schaad, City Manager
Subject: Approve Animal Care Services Officer Job Description Recommendation:

Pass a Motion to approve a job description for the Marysville Police Department Animal Care Services Officer (ACSO).

Rationale for Recommendation:

The attached job description has been updated, in an effort to meet the evolving needs of the City.

Background:

The Marysville Police Department conducted a review of departmental job descriptions and determined there was not a current job classification for the Animal Care Services Officer. This position was formerly a part-time Community Service Officer position assigned to Animal Care Services and when the position was fully funded, the part-time personnel became full time. The City successfully completed the meet and confer process with the MPOA on Friday, September 30, 2022.

Discussion & Analysis:

The Marysville Police Department completed an analysis of the job functions and determined the outlined job description best presents the duties assigned to the Animal Care Services Officer position. This job description is needed in the event the position becomes vacant and the Department needs to conduct the recruitment process.

Fiscal Impact:

This position is approved within the budget. No fiscal impact with the approval of the job description.
