Item #04
Date: November 15, 2022
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Dan Flores, Community Development Director
Jim Schaad, City Manager
Subject: Approval of Economic Development Agreement with the Greater Sacramento Area Economic Council (GSEC)
Recommendation:

Pass a Motion to 1) authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute the contract, 2) approve the agreement between the Greater Sacramento Area Economic Council (GSEC) and the City of Marysville for economic development services and 3) appoint a City of Marysville representative for the Economic Development Directors Taskforce (EDDT).

Discussion and Rationale for Recommendation:

Greater Sacramento is an economic development organization representing Placer County, Sacramento County, Yolo County, Sutter County, and Yuba County in addition to 13 incorporated cities in the Sacramento region. Greater Sacramento’s primary role is to develop the region’s market strategy for highwage, base industry clusters in coordination with communities.

Greater Sacramento coordinates regional support and provides research on key retention and expansion projects, implements strategic action plans adopted by its board of directors and economic development directors task force, establishes performance targets, and reports on related progress, and leads the EDDT in developing protocol for business attraction, retention and expansion, external marketing communications, and permit streamlining.

The annual membership fee is $0.40 per capita for the City of Marysville = $4,880.40.

Fiscal Analysis:

This expenditure was approved in the FY2022-23 Annual Budget.
