MEETING DATE: August 20, 2002
REPORT PREPARATION DATE: August 12, 2002
SUBJECT: Inclusion of Additional Addresses for Residential Parking Zone RECOMMENDATION:

Adoption of Resolution Designating Residential Parking Permit Areas. lI. BACKGROUND and DISCUSSION:

The Council previously established Parking Zone "L" which covers the south side of Fifth Street from Oak to C Streets. This zone exempts residential permit holders form the two-hour time restriction for parking in that area.

On August 6, 2002, the Parking and Traffic Committee considered the request of David Kennedy, owner of 504 Fifth Street, to include this address in Residential Parking Permit Area "L". The building at 504 Fifth Street has three residential units above commercial on the ground floor. This is a largely commercial area, and all fo the parking in the immediate area is subject to timed parking restrictions. Permit Area "L" is about one block away, but is out of the primary commercial area. The Committee recommends inclusion of 504 Fifth Street in Residential Parking Permit Area "L".
