Subject: Creation of a new Marysville Growth and Development Committee Recommendation:
Pass a Motion to adopt Resolution 2023-XX establishing as a new ad hoc committee, the Marysville Growth and Development Committee.
Background:
Marysville is in the process of updating its General Plan for the first time since 1985. Part of this update includes understanding the priorities of the City as well as recognizing challenges to growth and development.
Discussion and Analysis:
Based on council input staff proposes the “Marysville Growth and Development Committee” to have the purpose of exploring potential growth and development opportunities both internal and external to the City. Specifically, the committee is given the charge to:
• Explore opportunities for growth,
• Create a development path for these recognize opportunities, • Make recommendations of identified redevelopment regions to be implemented into specific plans in conjunction with the General Plan update.
This Committee would continue until either the accomplishment of its purpose or 1 year after the adoption of this Resolution, absent earlier termination by the City Council or reauthorization for a continued existence pursuant to Marysville Administrative Code Section 182(c)(1).
Legal Review:
The City Attorney has reviewed this document as well as the accompanying Resolution and approved as to form.
Fiscal Analysis:
The formation of this standing committee represents no fiscal impact to the General Fund at this time.
