Item #04
Date: February 21, 2023
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Kyle Heggstrom, Fire Chief
Jim Schaad, City Manager
Subject: Approve Donation of City-Owned Fire Engine
Recommendation:

Pass a Motion to approve the donation of City-Owned tangible property, Fire Engine 216, to be declared surplus and donated to the Yuba College Fire Academy.

Rationale for Recommendation:

Authorizing the motion will allow staff to surplus this property that is no longer needed and taking up space within city facilities.

Background:

The City of Marysville retires a certain amount of tangible property used in City Departments due to inoperability, being obsolete, or expense of maintenance.

Should the Council approve this item, the City would donate this Fire Engine to the Yuba College Fire Academy which would benefit the training of new Fire Recruits within the Fire Academy.

This Fire Engine is thirty-two years old, is obsolete, and no longer in service. This vehicle was replaced by one of the newly acquired type 3 fire engines.

Discussion & Analysis:

With Council’s authorization, Fire Engine 216 (VIN -2947, a 1991 International) will be donated to Yuba College.

Fiscal Impact:

There is no fiscal impact for this donation.
