Item #05
Date: March 21, 2023
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Christian S. Sachs, Chief of Police
Jim Schaad, City Manager
Subject: City-Owned Property Declared Surplus
Recommendation:
Pass a Motion to approve the retirement of City-owned tangible property declared to be surplus to the needs of the City.
Rationale for Recommendation:
Authorizing the motion will allow staff to surplus this property that is no longer needed and taking up space within the facilities.
Background:
The City of Marysville retires a certain amount of tangible property used in City Departments due to inoperability, obsolescence, or expense of maintenance. This action is to seek Council approval for the retirement of surplus property outlined on the attached property disposal form.
The City will sell surplus City-owned vehicles at public auction or to another emergency responder agency and dispose of obsolescence property.
Discussion & Analysis:
By receiving Council authorization, staff would sell the surplus vehicles listed on the attached Property Disposal Sheet at public auction. The revenue, once received, would be recognized in account 10-4855 (only for item 3 on the surplus list). All other items declared to be obsolescence will be disposed of.
Fiscal Impact:
The fiscal impact will be an increase in revenue due to the sale of the vehicles outlined. The fiscal impact is not known at this time as it is based on the sale of the listed vehicles at public auction.
