Item #02
Date: June 20, 2023
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Jim Schaad, City Manager
Subject: Approval of Revisions to the Management Compensation Plan for Executive and MidManagement Employees Recommendation:
Pass a Motion to approve salary revisions to the Executive and Mid-Management Compensation Plan, to be effective July 1, 2023.
Rationale for Recommendation:
The City Manager, with Executive Staff input as well as compiling a detailed salary survey, has drafted this revision to the Executive and Mid-Management Employees Compensation Plan, after Closed Session direction.
Background:
The City Manager solicited input from Executive and Mid-Management Staff regarding wages, benefits, and other conditions of employment. Based on this input, revisions to the attached Executive and MidManagement Employees Compensation Plan were drafted.
Discussion & Analysis:
The attached Executive and Mid-Management Compensation Plan reflect months of hard work and collaboration between the City Manager and the Executive and Mid-Management Staff to develop revisions to provide a more competitive compensation structure while staying within budget constraints. As surrounding jurisdictions have steadily increased salaries and benefits over the past 24 to 36 months; the City of Marysville’s Executive and Mid Management Staff compensation has remained below market value. The proposed revisions will help retain key staff and recruit qualified candidates for open positions and begin to keep pace with the surrounding market.
Fiscal Analysis:
The financial impact has been presented and approved within the FY 23/24 budget. There will be no further appropriations for this item.
