Subject: City of Marysville Measure C Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2022-23 Recommendation:

Receive and file the City of Marysville's Measure C Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2022-23.

Rationale for Recommendation:

As part of the 2016 voter approved ballet, Measure C (1% sales tax) required the City to publish annual reports stating how much tax revenue was received and how that money was expended.

Background:

On June 7, 2016, Marysville voters approved a 1% local sales tax increase called Measure C. The ballot language read as follows:

Shall the City of Marysville enact a 1% sales tax (Transactions and Use Tax) for general municipal purposes, such as fire safety, police protection and emergency response services, traffic safety, streets and sidewalks repair, park improvements and maintenance, reducing debt and rebuilding financial reserves, with the following restrictions? This tax shall expire after ten years, on October 31, 2026. Annually, the City shall publish a report of how much tax revenue was received and how that money was used.

As a result of the approved measure, the City started collecting the 1% sales tax in October, 2016. The attached annual report provides the required information per the ballot language.

Fiscal Analysis:

There is no fiscal impact as this is information only.
