Item #07
Date: April 2, 2024
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Jim Schaad, City Manager
Subject: Approval of Revisions to the Management Compensation Plan for Executive and MidManagement Employees Recommendation:
Pass a Motion to 1) approve and ratify salary revisions and language cleanup to the Executive and MidManagement Compensation Plan, to be effective July 1, 2023, and 2) adopt Resolution 2024-XX memorializing these changes.
Rationale for Recommendation:
The City Manager has drafted this revision to the Executive and Mid-Management Employees Compensation Plan.
Discussion & Analysis:
The attached Executive and Mid-Management Compensation Plan has been developed to provide a more competitive compensation structure while staying within budget constraints. As surrounding jurisdictions have steadily increased salaries and benefits over the past 24 to 36 months; the City of Marysville’s Executive and Mid Management Staff compensation has remained below market value. The proposed revisions provide moderate increases for key positions and attempt to keep pace with the surrounding market while managing City expenses. The proposed policy revision also includes a sewer resident incentive to employees living within the City limits, updated position classifications to reflect previously approved changes, updates and clarifies car and uniform allowances, addresses current state and federal regulations and generally updates language to reflect current conditions.
Fiscal Analysis:
The financial impact allocated and included within the FY 23/24 budget. There will be no further appropriations for this item.
