Item #05
Date: May 7, 2024
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Nicole Moe, City Clerk
Jim Schaad, City Manager
Subject: Consolidation of November 5, 2024, Elections
Recommendation:

Pass a Motion to approve Resolution 2024-XX, repealing and replacing Resolution 2024-12 calling and giving notice of a General Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 2024, and requesting consolidation with the General (Statewide) Election and establishing the manner of holding said election.

Rationale for Recommendation:

This Resolution will repeal and replace previously adopted Resolution 2024-12, due to the update in the Election Code Sections 15372-15374, updating the Certified Statement of Results from 28 days to 30 days post-Election to the City Clerk. This change is noted in Section 7 of the attached Resolution. The adoption of Resolution No. 2024-XX is required in order for the City of Marysville to consolidate its Municipal Election process with Yuba County on November 5, 2024, which will reduce costs.

Background:

The City of Marysville has consolidated its Municipal Election with Yuba County for many years. This resolution will consolidate the General Municipal Election with the General (Statewide) Election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two Councilmembers.

Alignment with City Council Goal(s):

This Agenda item does not specifically align with any current City Council Goals.

Fiscal Impact:

The cost is unknown at this time. In Fiscal Year 2022-2023, the City budgeted $10,000 to pay for election expenses.

Attachment(s):
