Subject: Approve FBI Safe Streets Task Force MOU so the Marysville Police Department can participate with the FBI.
Recommendation:
Pass a Motion to approve a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Marysville and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. The Marysville Police Department will provide one officer for investigation and enforcement operations. Also, authorize the City Manager to execute MOU if approved.
Rationale for Recommendation:
The FBI Safe Streets Task Force recently extended an invitation to the Marysville Police Department to join the task force and work together, and the attached MOU is to formalize the partnership. The request is to approve the attached MOU and allow the Marysville Police Department to work with the FBI taskforce.
Background:
The FBI Safe Streets Task Force is primarily focused on criminal activity related to gangs and organized crime. Joining the task force would be a force multiplier for the Marysville Police Department and would greatly increase the experience and expertise of our police officers.
Alignment with City Council Goal(s):
The proposed MOU would enhance Public Safety.
Fiscal Analysis:
There would be no fiscal impact.
