Item #06
Date: April 21, 2026
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Vance Nabeta, Chief of Police
Jim Schaad, City Manager
Subject: Accept and Approve the California Office of Emergency Services (OES) Customer Premise Equipment Fixed Allotment Funding-On Premise Solution Grant 2025, in the amount of $407,000.

Recommendation:

Pass a motion 2025-XX to accept and approve a grant award of $407,000.00 from the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) for the Marysville Police Department dispatch center upgrades.

Rationale for Recommendation:

Acceptance of this grant funding would allow the Police Department to upgrade the dispatch center with new equipment and improve dispatch technology for the department.

Background:

During 2025, the Marysville Police Department applied for the Cal OES Customer Premise Equipment grant program. On September 22, 2025, the Marysville Police Department was awarded the grant.

Discussion & Analysis:

This Grant award is intended to upgrade technology associated with the City’s 911 dispatch system, purchase new dispatch equipment, and dispatch consoles.

AT&T electronic upgrades have already been installed, and activation of new software system is scheduled to begin on April 16, 2026.

Environmental Review:

The action proposed in this item is administrative in nature and does not constitute a project under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

Legal Review:

No legal issues have been identified requiring additional review Item #06
Fiscal Impact:

There is no impact to the City’s General Fund. However, the Cal OES Customer Premise Equipment grant program has a reimbursement component in which the City must front the costs in the amount not to exceed $50,00. Upon submission of a cancelled check and relevant invoices, the City will be reimbursed for those expenses.
