Item #03
Date: June 2, 2026
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Maggie Sanchez, City Clerk
Subject: Consolidation of November 3, 2026, Elections
Recommendation:

Pass a Motion to approve Resolution 2026-XX calling and giving notice of a General Municipal Election to be held on November 3, 2026, and requesting consolidation with the General (Statewide) Election and establishing the manner of holding said election.

Rationale for Recommendation:

The adoption of Resolution No. 2026-XX is required in order for the City of Marysville to consolidate its Municipal Election process with Yuba County on November 3, 2026, which will reduce costs.

Background:

The City of Marysville has consolidated its Municipal Election with Yuba County for many years. This resolution will consolidate the General Municipal Election with the General (Statewide) Election for the purpose of electing two (2) Councilmembers.

Alignment with City Council Goal(s):

This Agenda item does not specifically align with any current City Council Goals.

Environmental Review:

The action proposed in this item is administrative in nature and does not constitute a project under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

Legal Review:

The City Attorney’s office has reviewed and approved as to form.

Fiscal Analysis:

The estimated cost for FY 2025-26 is $12,000 to be disbursed from General Fund account #10-105- 5230. There are sufficient funds within the City Manager’s budget to offset incurred excess costs associated with the consolidation of municipal elections in Yuba County.
