Item #06
Date: August 18, 2026
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Anissa Leung, Finance Director
Dan Flores, Community & Economic Development Director/Assistant City Manager Subject: Community Sponsorship Program Application Review and Award Recommendation:

Pass a motion to approve Resolution No. 2026-XX awarding $454.54 to each of the 11 approved Community Sponsorship applications received through the City Community Sponsorship Program Rationale for Recommendation:

The City of Marysville recognizes the value that non-governmental organizations (NGOs) bring to the community through events, services, and programs that align with the City’s goals and enhance the quality of life for residents. The Community Sponsorship Program was established to provide limited financial support to qualified organizations in a fair and transparent manner. Reviewing and awarding sponsorships at this time ensures that the available budgeted funds are allocated in accordance with policy guidelines and within the fiscal year’s timeline. Council approval is required to determine how the limited funding will be distributed among the eligible applicants based on their individual merits and community benefit.

Background:

During the City Council Meeting, held on October 20, 2020, Council adopted the Community Sponsorship Policy for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s). As part of the program adoption, the initial review of applications must be presented to Council by the end of the calendar year. Recommendations for approval are given at that time.
