CITY OF MARYSVILLE
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
AND OF INTENT TO ADOPT AN
URGENCY ORDINANCE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Marysville will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the City Council Chambers at Marysville City Hall, 526 C Street, Marysville, California, to consider the following matter:
ADOPTION OF AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE AMENDING SECTION 18.64.093(e) OF THE MARYSVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE to authorize, on a strictly limited basis, the replacement of three existing static off-site advertising displays (billboards) located on Union Pacific Railroad Company property within or immediately adjacent to the Caltrans right-of-way along State Route 70 — which must be removed to accommodate the State Route 70 safety improvement project with electronic billboard signs.
URGENCY ADOPTION. The ordinance is proposed for adoption as an urgency ordinance pursuant to California Government Code Section 36937(b), to take effect immediately upon adoption by a four-fifths (4/5) vote of the City Council. The facts constituting the urgency — the need to avoid delay of the State Route 70 safety improvement project and the prolonged exposure of the traveling public to documented safety hazards along that corridor — are set forth in the ordinance.
DOCUMENT REVIEW. A copy of the proposed urgency ordinance, the staff report, and all documents related to this matter will be available for public review at the Office of the City Clerk, Marysville City Hall, 526 C Street, Marysville, California, during regular business hours, and on the City’s website at www.marysville.ca.us prior to the hearing.
