VI. DISCUSSION ACTION ITEMS
1. DISCUSSION AND DIRECTION REGARDING FILLING THE CITY CLERK VACANCY PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 36512 CAUSED BY RESIGNATION AND CONSIDER THE APPOINTMENT OF A C\T\ CLERK City Manager presented the item to the City Council.
City Council asked the candidates in attendance to express their desire to serve in the position of City Clerk for the remainder of the current term.
Brian E. Juarez and Paola Lopez-Carrillo were present. Kimberly Salinas was not present. After a few questions and discussion, the City Council made a motion to approve a new City Clerk.
Motion by Aguiluz to appoint Brian E. Juarez as the City's new City Clerk for the remainder of the term set to end in November 2024, second by De La Riva.
The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5-0.
VII. ADJOURNMENT - Mayor adjourned the special City Council Meeting at approximately 5:31 p. m. The next Regular Meeting of the Maywood City Council is Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 5:30 p.m.
