RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. Discuss and appoint the 2024 Mayor Pro Tem.
DISCUSSION
The adopted City Council Code of Ethics – Chapter 2.2 outlines the Mayor Pro Tem’s appointment, powers, and duties. The selection of Mayor Pro Tem occurs annually by majority vote of the City Council during the Council’s reorganization meeting.
In the Mayor’s absence, the Mayor Pro Tem performs the duties of the Mayor, including but not limited to, serving as the presiding officer of the City Council meetings and representing the City at ceremonial events. The Mayor Pro Tem is also responsible for the selection of the Annual Initiative (or theme) to be included in the City’s annual budget book, displayed at the City’s annual Fourth of July event, and used throughout the fiscal year in City communications, press, and events.
