The Menifee proposed project identified for funding is the Walk with Ease Program (“Program”) which is a multi-component, low-impact six-week walking program that teaches people how to incorporate physical activity safely and comfortably into their everyday lifestyle. The Program targets those with arthritis or other chronic diseases interested in a walking program and would take place for approximately six weeks, three times per week for one hour. Program outreach, recruitment, and registration would be conducted by staff at the Kay Ceniseros Senior Center.
The City of Menifee is home to a large senior population that would greatly benefit from access to low to no-cost recreation and fitness programs. Programs like Walk with Ease align with the City’s commitment to continue to offer low impact/low intensity fitness and health-related resources and workshops for adults 55 and over.
While the grant terms do not require a contribution match from the City, the program is required to be adopted under a joint Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”). The basic terms of the MOU outline requirements for project meetings, technical calls, implementation of the Walk with Ease Program, quarterly evaluations and focus groups to improve the Program, and NRPA site visit.
