RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. Establish and appoint two Councilmembers to a City Council Ad Hoc Subcommittee for the Southern Gateway Specific Plan project in keeping with City Council Policy No. 2.
DISCUSSION
In alignment with the Strategic Plan, the City of Menifee has initiated the preparation of a Specific Plan for the Economic Development Corridor – Southern Gateway (EDC-SG) to create a new framework for maximizing the area’s potential as an innovation district. The Southern Gateway Specific Plan would embody an illustrated vision for the area to be developed through robust public outreach, collaboration with key stakeholders, and transparent community engagement.
On December 6, 2023, the City Council approved the Professional Services Agreement with Rick Engineering Company for this project, and a kick-off meeting was held on January 9, 2024.
Staff is requesting the formation of an Ad Hoc Subcommittee consisting of two City Council members to review and provide input in the Specific Plan development process during the course of the next 18-24 months. Meetings are anticipated to be held quarterly, or as needed throughout the work effort.
