DISCUSSION
Since 2012, City staff has progressively completed improvement plans in the City for various street medians. This has included the removal of old inefficient plants, rock, debris, hard scape and replacing them with drought tolerant landscaping.
On November 20, 2024, Council approved a construction contract with David Ollis Landscape Development, Inc. (“Contractor”) for the Cherry Hills Median Conversion Project for a total not exceeding $133,983. The contract included the revitalization of approximately 930 liner feet of street median located on Cherry Hills Boulevard between Pebble Beach Drive and Sun City Boulevard with minimal/low maintenance features including metal designs and rock landscaping.
One Change order in the amount of $6,384 was necessary to complete the project. Change Order No. 1 was approved for the additional purchase of cobble stone. The original base bid called out 42 cubic yards of cobble, however, the Contractor found that an additional 28 cubic yards were needed. The final construction cost for the project was $140,367.
