WHEREAS, the month of May 2025, has been designated as National Small Business Month, in recognition of the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners; and WHEREAS, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial ventures are the driving force of the necessary creativity, innovation, and employment growth that leads City of Menifee’s Economic Development efforts, and provides the products and services that keeps our city strong, builds opportunities and prosperity across the Southwest Riverside County region; and
WHEREAS, nationally more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we must work to ensure that our city recovers and rebuilds not only from the top down, but also from the bottom up and the middle out; and
WHEREAS, locally, in Menifee, California 95% of our businesses are small businesses with 50 or fewer employees.
The City of Menifee offers assistance by waiving the city business license fee, and also recognizes that small business assistance is a partnership with our affiliated organizations; and WHEREAS, the City of Menifee takes this opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners and recognizes that Small Business Month is a time for us to celebrate the successes of small business and to thank our small business owners for their contributions to our city, our economy, and our nation.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Menifee, California, does hereby proclaim the month of May 2025, as Small Business Month in the City of Menifee. We encourage all citizens to join in this observance and celebrate the accomplishments of Menifee’s small business owners and their employees and encourage the development of new small businesses, creating 21st century jobs, driving innovation, and increasing Menifee’s regional and national competitiveness through the support and awareness of the impacts locally by small business, entrepreneurs and solopreneurs.
