A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA,
APPROVING THE EXISTING STREET NAME OF SWEETWATER CANYON ROAD AS
THE OFFICIAL STREET NAME
WHEREAS, the City Council possesses the authority to rename an existing city street by resolution pursuant to Government Code Section 34091.1; and WHEREAS, parcel maps identify the street name as “Mc Bob Road” within the City of Menifee; and
WHEREAS, County Assessor documents, City of Menifee documents and maps, and the existing city street sign identify the street name as “Sweetwater Canyon Road”; and WHEREAS, the Community Development Department recommends the clarification and confirmation of the existing street name of “Sweetwater Canyon Road” to be the official street name of the road located south of Scott Road and approximately .85 miles west of Haun Road; and WHEREAS, the City Council discussed these street name changes at its regular meeting on November 19, 2025; and
WHEREAS, changing an existing street name is exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act, pursuant to 14 Cal. Code Regs. 15061(b)(3), because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the name change in question will have a significant effect on the environment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Menifee, California does hereby resolve, declare, determine and order as follows:
Section 1.That the City Council of the City of Menifee hereby resolves to approve the existing street name of “Sweetwater Canyon Road” as the official street name of the road located south of Scott Road and approximately .85 miles west of Haun Road, as shown in Exhibit A, pursuant to the authority vested in the City Council by California Government Code section 34091.1.
Section 2.That the City Clerk and Public Works Department are hereby directed to take whatever steps are required by law to notify the public of said street name, including providing any required notices, including to the County of Riverside pursuant to California Government Code section 34092. No physical improvements to the street are required to support the intent of this resolution. 2 5
