DISCUSSION
The Pedestrian Crossing at Audie Murphy Road Project, CIP Project No. 24-03 (Project), installed a pedestrian crossing to provide safe access to The Ranch House at Audie Murphy Ranch (AMR), which provides various amenities to the community. The Project reconstructed the curb, gutter, and sidewalk to narrow Audie Murphy Road directly in front of The Ranch House, creating a natural traffic calming measure and reducing the length of the pedestrian crossing within the roadway. The Project also included installation of thermoplastic high-visibility pedestrian crossing markings and edge line striping to clearly distinguish the pedestrian crossing and designated "No Parking" red curb zones to provide protection and improved safety for pedestrian traffic.
Additionally, a new rapid rectangular flashing beacon was installed at the crossing to enhance visibility and alert drivers to the presence of pedestrians. Concrete work included constructing an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant pedestrian ramp to provide accessibility for all users.
On April 16, 2025, the City Council approved the construction contract with Vet Corps Contracting Inc. (Contractor) in the amount of $167,885. The total approved construction budget was $199,800. There was one Contract Change Order (CCO) required during construction, which was a credit back to the City totaling $15,117.50, reducing the total Contract value to $152,767.50, as shown in Table 1 on the following page. The Project was completed under budget, for a final

If approved, a Notice of Completion (NOC) would be filed, which protects the City from future claims against the Project by providing proper noticing to each contractor, subcontractor, and material supplier that the Project has been completed. The payment bond would be released upon Project acceptance by the City and the performance bond would be released one year after the date of recording of the NOC. The City has not received any stop notices that would prevent said releases.
