With membership of over 60,000 park professionals across the country, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is the leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to building strong, vibrant, and resilient communities through parks and recreation programs. As parks and recreation agencies provide a wide array of youth programming, the NRPA aims to support staff, youth sports coaches, enrichment instructors, and community volunteers in creating positive experiences and supporting the holistic development of youth.

In support of local community programs, the NRPA partners with the Positive Coaching Alliance to administer the Million Coaches Challenge microgrant program. The goal of this program is to train one million local volunteer coaches to improve their foundational skills, competencies, and support the overall advancement of local sports programs. Each microgrant provides for in-kind sports training from leading professionals and valuable networking opportunities that allow volunteer coaches to engage with peers, share insights, and strengthen their knowledge and resource base. Lastly, the microgrant provides a monetary stipend to support the awarded program.
