RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. Discuss and provide direction regarding potential meeting cancellations to the remainder of the 2026 City Council regular meeting schedule.
DISCUSSION
The City Council’s regular meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month starting at 6:00 pm. In Table 1 on the following page is the full meeting calendar for 2026.
Annually, the City Council is provided with the opportunity to review the upcoming year’s meeting calendar to determine if there is a need for any meeting cancellations or rescheduling due to any conflicts. The City Council may cancel or reschedule a meeting at any time throughout the year for any reason, this advanced planning process provides an opportunity for staff to plan for placement of agenda items accordingly.
On November 5, 2025, the City Council reviewed and discussed the 2026 City Council meeting calendar. Following discussion, the City Council approved the calendar and directed the cancellation of the January 7, 2026 and July 1, 2026 regular City Council meetings.
During the discussion of the 2026 meeting calendar, the City Council also acknowledged that additional meeting cancellations could be considered throughout the year if circumstances warranted and there was no operational necessity to hold a regularly scheduled meeting. It was discussed that staff would return to the City Council with an agenda item should such an opportunity arise.
Staff have evaluated the anticipated workload and upcoming agenda items for the remainder of the year and has identified the August 5, 2026 regular City Council meeting as a potential candidate for cancellation. Based on the current business forecast, cancellation of this meeting is

not anticipated to significantly impact City operations or the City Council's ability to conduct necessary business.
The City Council may also take this opportunity to evaluate the remainder of the 2026 meeting calendar and discuss any potential scheduling conflicts or other circumstances that may warrant the cancellation or rescheduling of future meetings. Alternatively, the City Council may elect to maintain the currently adopted 2026 meeting schedule with no changes.
