FIRST ADDENDUM TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF MENIFEE AND ROMOLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER
PROGRAM FOR THE 2023-24 THROUGH 2027-28 SCHOOL
YEARS
This First Addendum ("Addendum") to the Agreement Between the City of Menifee and Romoland School District to Participate in the School Resource Officer Program for the 2023-24 through 2027-28 School Years, effective June 21, 2023 ("Agreement"), is entered into by and between the City of Menifee ("CITY") and the Romoland School District ("DISTRICT").
RECITALS
WHEREAS, the Parties entered into the Agreement to provide School Resource Officer ("SRO") services to the DISTRICT; and
WHEREAS, the Parties desire to modify the assigned SRO's work schedule to better align with operational needs while maintaining uninterrupted law enforcement services to the DISTRICT; and
WHEREAS, the Parties mutually agree that the modification of the SRO work schedule is in the best interest of both the CITY and the DISTRICT and does not alter any other material terms of the Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Parties agree as follows:
1. Modification of Section B.2.b – Scope of Work
Section B.2.b of the Agreement is hereby deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following:
b. CITY agrees to assign one (1) full-time School Resource Officer to provide SERVICES under this Agreement at Ethan A. Chase Middle School. The assigned School Resource Officer shall work a 9/80 work schedule during the academic year. The SRO shall generally work during student instructional days and normal school operating hours in accordance with the adopted school calendar, commencing on the first day of student instruction and continuing through the final scheduled instructional day of each academic year.
2. Coverage During Regularly Scheduled Days Off
The following subsection shall be added immediately following Section B.2.g as Section B.2.h, with all subsequent subsections renumbered accordingly:
h. Coverage During Scheduled Days Off.
The CITY shall make reasonable efforts to ensure continuity of School Resource Officer services during the assigned SRO's regularly scheduled day off associated with the 9/80 work schedule.
Coverage may be provided by another sworn member of the Menifee Police Department, as staffing levels, operational needs, emergencies, and personnel availability permit. The Parties acknowledge that such coverage is intended to maintain a law enforcement presence and support to the DISTRICT but shall not be construed as guaranteeing the assignment of the same officer or identical services on every scheduled day off.
Coverage provided by another Menifee Police Department employee during the assigned SRO's regularly scheduled day off shall be considered part of the SERVICES provided under this Agreement and shall not constitute ADDITIONAL SERVICES requiring separate approval or compensation, provided such coverage occurs during the normal student instructional day.
3. Effect of Addendum
Except as specifically modified by this First Addendum, all other terms, conditions, obligations, and provisions of the Agreement shall remain unchanged and in full force and effect.
In the event of any conflict between this Addendum and the original Agreement, the provisions of this Addendum shall control.
This Addendum shall become effective upon execution by both Parties and shall remain in effect for the duration of the Agreement unless modified by subsequent written amendment.
