A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MERCED, CALIFORNIA,
CONTINUING THE BASE WATER SERVICE
RATES AND CHARGES UNCHANGED FOR THE
NEXT FISCAL YEAR
WHEREAS, the City of Merced ("City") City Council is empowered, pursuant to Merced Municipal Code §15.12.025, to set the base water service rates and charges for all users within the City;
WHEREAS the Finance Officer, in consultation with the Director of Public Works, has examined the costs associated with water service within the City and determined that an increase in the base water service rates is not appropriate at this time;
WHEREAS the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely impacted the local economy, resulting in higher unemployment, among other economic challenges faced by all users of the City's water service;
WHEREAS the City has sufficient funds in its Water Operating Fund to conduct the water operations of the City and the City desires to conduct a water rate study in the 2022/2023 fiscal year.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERCED
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE, FIND, AND ORDER AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The current water service rates and charges shall remain in place and unchanged for the next fiscal year.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this Resolution.
