I have lived in Merced my entire adult life with the exception of my college years when I lived in Fresno and Turlock.
I am now married to my wife Jessica and we have a 2 year old boy named Declan.
We enjoy
going out on weekends to the farmers market, breakfast downtown, walks around our neighborhood trails and parks, and going to the Merced Zoo.
We are season pass holders for the Merced Zoological Society.
My son loves the monkeys and the goats in the petting zoo. :) As a parent to a young son it is important to
my wife and I that we have clean, safe, and easily accessible play areas, parks, green spaces, trails, and other activities for our families and children to enjoy.

I am a member of the Knights of Columbus which organize many community activities not only through St. Patrick's church, but also in conjunction with the City of Merced and Merced County.
What is your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of this Board or Commission? To serve in an advisory capacity to the Merced City Council in matters relating to the parks and recreational activities.
Takes into consideration budget constraints as they pertain to these activities and spaces.
Do you have experience or special knowledge pertaining to this Board or Commission? After graduating from high school I worked for the City of Merced as a Red Cross certified lifeguard.

worked at many of the city pools that were open at that time.

I moved to Merced to be close to Yosemite national park, and was pretty surprised to learn about the lack of any recreational activities to do outdoors in/around Merced. I'm interested in getting involved in this committee because I want to learn more about how city governance works, and how Merced could attract more young people like myself who want to take advantage of our proximity to recreation that Merced has to offer.

What is your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of this Board or Commission? As I understand, this role sits on an advisory board for the city council that can make recommendations referring to budgeting of local parks/events that will best benefit the people in Merced.
Do you have experience or special knowledge pertaining to this Board or Commission? I worked in outdoor recreation as a rock climbing guide during my summers in college, and some weekends while taking classes. Not especially relevant, but I also have a passion for being outside in the mountains, and enjoy skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, and hiking.
Any other comments you would like to add that may assist the City Council in their decision?
I enjoy sharing a passion of the outdoors with others, and would like to help find ways to do that in Merced.
