Proclamation
WHEREAS, the City of Merced recognizes the importance of early childhood development in shaping the future of our community; and, WHEREAS, the Week of the Young Child, celebrated annually, highlights the critical needs of young children and their families; and, WHEREAS, investing in early childhood education and development lays the foundation for a prosperous and thriving society; and, WHEREAS, the City of Merced is committed to supporting initiatives that promote the well-being and success of our youngest residents; and, NOW, THEREFORE, I, Matthew serratto, Mayor of the City of Merced, on behalf of the City Council do hereby proclaim the week of April 6-12, 2024 as the "Week of the Young Child" in our city and I urge all residents, educators, businesses, and community organizations to join First 5 Merced County in celebrating the Week of the Young Child and to support efforts that ensure every child in Merced has access to high-quality early learning experiences.
