Chair HAY called the regular Arts and Culture Advisory Commission meeting to order at 4:01 PM.

F.1. SUBJECT: Approving an Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Local Photography Submissions and Approving the Planning of a Summer Art Exhibition at the Applegate Park Merced Open Air Theater (MOAT)
REPORT IN BRIEF
Considers approving an RFQ call for local photography and a summer art exhibition at the Applegate Park MOAT.
RECOMMENDATION
Arts and Culture Advisory Commission - Adopt a motion:
A. Approving an RFQ for original works of photography by local artists featuring sunrises and sunsets in Merced; and,
B. Approving the designation of two members of the Arts and Culture Advisory Commission to serve on a subcommittee with the Senior Management Analyst/PIO and Director of Parks and Community Services to plan a summer art exposition event for artists to exhibit their original local sunrise and sunset photography.
Senior Management Analyst Jennifer FLACHMAN and Director of Parks and Community Services Christopher JENSEN gave a presentation on the Request for Qualification (RFQ) for local photography submissions and planning of a Summer Art Exhibition.
Commissioners, Mr. JENSEN, and Mr. FLACHMAN discussed the usage of the Merced Open Air Theatre in Applegate Park, highlighting local agencies, businesses, winners, and top submissions, collaborating with CITY OF MERCED Page 2 Printed on 3/15/2024

Merced County Arts Council, details of the event, and creating a potential Subcommittee.
A motion was made by Chair Hay, seconded by Member Del Zaragoza, to create a Subcommittee to include Arts and Culture Advisory Commissioner Hypes and Arts and Culture Advisory Commissioner Dennis. The motion carried by the following vote:

F.2. SUBJECT: Continued Report to Provide an Update on the Condition of Murals Painted on City of Merced Utility Boxes

Vice Chair DENNIS requested to discuss the consideration of re-thinking how artists are paid for art projects and to discuss a potential maintenance fund.
