RESOLUTION NO. 2024-_
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MERCED, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE DISPLAY OF A
COMMEMORATIVE FLAG ON THE CITY
FLAGPOLE IN BOB HART SQUARE FOR THE
MONTH OF JUNE 2024
WHEREAS, the City of Merced ("City") displays flags on City flagpoles in accordance with federal and state law;
WHEREAS, displays of flags on the City's flagpoles is intended to serve as an expression of the City's official sentiments;
WHEREAS, on July 6, 2021, the City Council adopted Administrative Policy C-7, Display of Flags at City Facilities, which establishes guidelines for the display of flags at City facilities, including commemorative flags; WHEREAS, on May 30, 2024, staff received a request for DISPLAY OF COMMEMORITIVE FLAG FORM to raise the Pride Progress Flag for the month of June at Bob Hart Square Flagpole; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Merced has issued Proclamations for Pride Month at the City Council meetings of June 29, 2020, June 7, 2021, June 6, 2022, and June 5, 2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERCED
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE, FIND, AND ORDER AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Merced hereby authorizes the display of the Pride Flag, a commemorative flag, for June 2024 at Bob Hart Square in accordance with Administrative Policy C-7.
