Tell us about yourself, and why you are applying for this particular Board or Commission:
When not doing theater, I enjoy getting involved with my community by promoting the arts whenever possible. Although a native of Modesto, while I lived in Patterson I helped to coordinate and lead the annual Patterson Art and Wine Gala. I was the brainchild, coordinator and leader of all fundraising efforts to have the Centennial Mural painted in downtown Patterson. I also led the effort to get an art wall up near the Patterson Skate Park to allow an opportunity for teens and young adults to express themselves. I also produced and directed a play commemorating the 100th anniversary of Patterson’s founding, Patterson: A Century of Community.
During my 11 years in Patterson, I was a Parks &
Recreation commissioner, a member of the General Planning Advisory Committee and a member of the Youth Development Committee.
I relocated to Merced back in the fall of 2013
and became the Executive Director of Merced County Arts Council in 2016. Now I help support the arts and artists, both visual and performing, throughout the city of Merced and the county. I hope to help create an Arts & Culture District within our downtown core while advocating artists earning living wages and having access to affordable housing.
I am
interested in preserving our history and looking out to the future through public art that conveys our uniqueness and tells our story here in Merced. I am also interested in the preservation of current public art and the future implementation of public art, such as making sure we have sufficient maintenance funding.

I've been involved with and interested in the arts community for many years.

I already know several of the committee members and have worked with them on various arts projects.
Please list your current employer and relevant volunteer experience.
I am currently retired, but I am a volunteer at Playhouse Merced and have been involved with them for 15 years. I've currently started a senior theater project with them.

This board works to help develop projects that support and advocate for the arts programs in Merced.
I understand they are also working on developing an Arts District in Merced, as well.
Do you have experience or special knowledge pertaining to this Board or Commission?
My experience comes from my years working in community theater in Merced.
I also know
many artists in this community. I also have very good organizational skills.
Any other comments you would like to add that may assist the City Council in their decision?
The Arts Community here in Merced is very special.
For a city this size, we have a lot going
on and opportunities for even more.
I think it is wonderful that the City Council is so
supportive of the Arts.
I would like to help represent the community and be able to have a hand in developing a thriving, growing, and diverse arts culture in this community.
