Merced Security Storage LLC is
requesting a Vacation of the 10-foot-
wide easement that runs along the
eastern edge of the property.

Site Background and Context
• The proposed Vacation is located on a roughly 6-acre lot • The area to be vacated is 10 feet wide and runs from the southern end of the parcel to the northern end.
• The subject site was annexed into the City in 1970, as a part of the Fahrens Creek Annexation.
• Merced Security Storage LLC applied for and received approval for a mini-storage business at this site back in 2023.
• Merced Security Storage LLC reached out to the City of Merced Engineering and Public Works departments requesting a
vacation of this easement.
• The area to be vacated was originally intended to be used as a storm drain line, but this was never implemented.
• The City’s Engineering and Public Works departments have concluded that this easement is not needed and will not help with drainage at the site.
Recent Action
• On October 9, 2024, the City of Merced Planning Commission reviewed this Vacation request, and found that it does not conflict with the City’s General Plan policies, text, maps, and is therefore consistent with the General Plan • On October 21, 2024, the City Council of the City of Merced adopted a resolution of intention and set November 18, 2024, as the date for the public hearing to consider Vacation #24-02
