REASON FOR REQUEST FOR COMMEMORATIVE FLAG: As a proud
Trans/Latinx led LGBTQIA+2s Resource Center in Merced
County, we deeply appreciate the diversity, resilience, and unity that our city represents. Last year's Pride flag-raising event was a beacon of hope, fostering a sense of community and belonging for many residents, especially our queer youth.
It served as a powerful symbol of Inclusivity, a reminder that Merced Is a safe space where everyone is welcome
and appreciated and supported of they navigate their
personal journeys. This year, It is even more critical to demonstrate our support. In the wake of recent elections and the introduction of anti-queer and anti-trans
legislation across the country, many members of our
community, particularly younger folk, are experiencing
neightened anxiety and a decline in mental health.
The Pride flag represents more than just celebrationi
It is commitment to inclusion, safety, and the values
that make merced a vibrant and suppontive community.
