Dear City of Merced,
On behalf of the Merced County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, we’d like to extend our gratitude for the support the City of Merced has shown in helping make the Mercado Night Market such a positive and well-loved community event for 4 years. We’re excited to keep the momentum going and would like to continue the Mercado Night Market for the 2025 season. Our goal is to maintain the same successful format as previous years, and we kindly ask for the City’s continued sponsorship and support.
We are requesting assistance from the City in sponsoring the event insurance and fees, as well as support from the Merced Police Department for security and Merced Fire and Rescue for emergency services. As before, we are asking to close the street from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM to allow time for set-up and clean-up. The event itself will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
We’re planning to keep the event bi-monthly, with three Mercado Night Markets scheduled—weather permitting—on the following dates: July 10th, September 4th, and November 6th, 2025.
We would also like to use the electricity from the light poles on N Street between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM (if allowable), and we’ll need access to the usual equipment such as barricades and cones. Additionally, we are asking if the City would consider waiving the associated fees again and continue sponsoring the Mercado as it has in the past.
