The Honorable Matthew Serratto
City of Merced
678W. 18th Street
Merced, CA 95340
Dear Mayor Serratto, City Council, Charter Officers, City Staff, Merced Residents, and Business Owners,
It has been an honor to serve you as Councilmember for the City of Merced over the past three years. As the representative of District 2, I am proud of the work we have accomplished together to improve the quality of life for all who live in our wonderful city including the re-dedication of the South Merced Police Substation in honor of former Chief Joe Cortez and the countless improvements to the streets, sidewalks and parks throughout town.
As you may know, the well-being of my family is of utmost importance to me. In the past year, both my family and I have experienced unexpected health challenges which have required more of my attention. This includes an upcoming surgery for me that will require an extensive recovery period.
Due to these issues, I have made the difficult decision to resign my position as Councilmember, effective October 31, 2025.
I wish you and the Council all the best as you continue your important work.
Yours in service,
Ronnie A. DeAnda
Councilmember, District 2
