A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MERCED, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
RATIFY THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT
APPLICATION WITH THE FEDERAL
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
(FEMA) FOR A FEMA ASSISTANCE TO
FIREFIGHTER GRANT (AFG)
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is accepting applications for the Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG); WHEREAS, this program is available to fire departments, nonaffiliated Emergency Medical Service (EMS) organizations, and State Fire Training Academies (SFTA's);
WHEREAS, the primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments; nonaffiliated EMS organizations, and SFTA's;
WHEREAS, this grant program requires a cost share;
WHEREAS, the City of Merced is eligible to apply for this grant program; WHEREAS, the City of Merced carefully considers grant programs that assist the City in achieving projects and programs that are priorities for the community;
WHEREAS, the Merced Fire Department will use funds, if awarded, to provide critical training and/or equipment; and,
WHEREAS, should the project be funded, the Merced Fire Department will return to City Council for approval of the grant agreements and acceptance of the terms and conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Merced formally approves, the submission of the AFG application for the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager or designee are hereby authorized to sign the grant agreement on behalf of the City of Merced.
