Merced Police Department
Camera proposal
The Merced Police Department is committed to collaborating with local partners to install advanced surveillance camera systems throughout the City of Merced. These strategically placed cameras will serve a dual purpose: monitoring partner properties and their immediate surroundings, while also providing critical support for law enforcement investigations.
The camera systems will be mounted on City light poles, ensuring optimal positioning to enhance both the safety of partner properties and the broader community. By integrating these systems with the Merced Police Department’s Real-Time Information Center, the cameras will provide continuous surveillance that can be accessed and monitored to assist in proactive policing and investigative efforts.

These locations are proposed camera placement sites. After the donation is received and approval is granted by Council, the cameras will be purchased. Final camera placement locations for each
hotel will be determined collaboratively between the Merced Police Department and the TBID Board after evaluating the surrounding environment at that time, including trees, bushes, buildings, landscaping, and other site-specific factors. The goal will be to identify the placement locations that best enhance security for each property and the public as well as what would be best to enhance investigative leads.
